Ottawa 67’s Cut Prices to Boost Attendance
Ottawa Sports Entertainment Group announced an immediate reduction of $4 for tickets purchased on game days, bringing them to between $13 and $25 depending on the ticket holder’s age and where a seat is located inside TD Place arena, in a bid to restore the Ontario Hockey League team’s attendance figures.
Underground parking at Lansdowne Park will also drop to $1.50 per half-hour from a scale that went as high as $3.25 per half-hour.
Thus, the cost for three hours for a typical 67’s game would be roughly $9, still above the $5 flat rate used until 2011-12, but down from $15 at the gate for the first part of this season.
The new parking rate will be in effect at all times except largescale event days with projected attendance of more than 15,000, such as Ottawa Redblacks CFL games and large concerts in the 24,000-seat TD Place stadium.
Average attendance through the 67’s first 14 home games has been 3,861, down 10.3 per cent from last season at Canadian Tire Centre (4,305) and down 31.2 per cent from 2012-13 (5,613).
The past two 67’s seasons were 16-46-6 and 23-39-6 and missed the playoffs. This year’s team is 14-13-2 and in the middle of the pack in the OHL’s Eastern Conference as the regular season approaches its mid-point.
